“ I'm so glad we stopped in for lunch. The waitress was prompt, friendly, and professional. I loved the interior of the place in its rustic western decor. The food was delicious, hot, and perfectly cooked. We will definitely return. ”
“ Great little tavern and Resteraunt. The service was outstanding and the place was very clean. Clean windows usually mean a clean kitchen. My daughter and I split a double portion of wings. They were kind enough to split it on two plates with no up charge. Wings were. If and meaty. Mine was a typical buffalo - good. Hers was BBQ - ended up being Carolina mustard base sauce. Not my favorite but she loved it. Fries were really good too. Prices are decent. Overall you can’t go wrong here. I’ll be back. ”
“ Wonderful and charming place in small town. I had Rocky Mountain Oysters (underwhelming, tastes like any breaded and fried meat), both elk and rabbit/rattlesnake sausages(very spicy and flavorful), and BBQ brisket (very tender and fresh). What a wonderful time. ”
“ Ive been there several times and it’s always been very enjoyable. Food is good, the service has always been very pleasant. Definitely worth a trip. Just a cool place with a good atmosphere. I’ve not experienced thier outside area but I would guess it would be great during the summer months. ”
“ Delicious. High quality meats for a decent price. We even asked if they owned the cattle used for the food because it is so fresh. I got the prime rib and him the pastrami. Both were very good. Decoration and vibe were nice and cozy. Waitress was great. Waitress said there is live music on Saturday so we are probably going to drive back and see what that is about. The set up is nice and we know the food is good. ”
“ The place was clean the service was impeccable . Food was alright too!!!!! Just gotta say this place is great ”
“ We had an amazing experience at South 40 Bar and Grill! From the moment we walked in, the staff went above and beyond to make sure we felt welcome and comfortable. The service was truly exceptional—friendly, attentive, and genuinely caring about our experience. The drink menu was a real standout, offering unique and creative choices that you won’t find anywhere else in the area. Each cocktail was delicious and clearly crafted with care. The food was just as impressive—everything we tried was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely fantastic. South 40 offers a dining experience that’s truly one of a kind in the area. Highly recommend if you’re looking for great service, unique drinks, and incredible food! ”
“ I moved down to Elbert from Denver. So, I wasn’t sure how’d this place would stack up, but let me tell you, I was pleasantly surprised. The food is absolutely AMAZING, and the staff is more friendly then any place I’ve ever been. The South 40 has become my favorite spot. All the food is great, but my favorites are the Elk Sausage, wings and the Ruben Sandwich with Fries. If you’re having a sweet tooth, I highly recommend the Purgatory Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream. Regardless of what you choose to eat or snack on, you will NOT be disappointed. Highly suggest checking it out!! ”
